OffBlackheath – festival delayed until 2013

with 7 comments

Yeah, yeah, last with the news, but here it is from the horse’s mouth.

Sad news, but it can’t just be the demands on Blackheath this Olympic year – it’s already going to be a packed summer for events in London (the Blur/ Specials / New Order closing ceremony gig looks something very special) and it’d be hard to get a decent profile for the festival.

But come 2013, and the post-Olympics malaise… and it could shine. Hope to see you next year, chaps.

  1. Sorry Darryl but is your topmost headline meant to read ‘2012’ or ‘2013’? I’m confused >:-{

  3. why music festivals on the heath? the heath is for recreational activity, strolling across, having the expanse available etc. There’s the 02 Arena for music events/ noise activities. Parks and heathland are not meant for music festivals or Olympic events. Give the people back their recreational spaces and let them decide for themselves what they wish to do there.

  4. Indeed, why can’t Worthy Farm be just for the cows?

  5. “give the people back their recreational spaces and let them decide for themselves what they wish to do there.”

    What if they decide they want to have pop concerts there?

  6. Great news. If anyone thinks its a great idea me and a few mates will be happy to come and spend a few nights in front of your house with some loud music on that you dont really want to listen to whilst we have a few beers and a loud chat. Sound ok? Better still if you let us know what time you put your kids to bed we will make sure we arrive to coincide with that.

  7. […] The ruling upholding Lewisham’s licence came in July 2011, too late for a festival that year, and the heavy demands on Blackheath during the Olympics kiboshed any chance of a festival in 2012. […]
